Vice President of Operations

Mel brings over 15 years of banking and financial expertise to his role as VP of Operations with Platinum Properties, where he oversees Sales and Marketing and is involved with corporate strategy and growth, including acquisitions and operations.

Following several years as a Litigation Associate in Vancouver with Bank of Nova Scotia’s Western Regional Office, in 1998 Mel shifted his focus to investments and worked for Montreal Trust before moving to offshore investment bank, Lines Overseas Management, headquartered in Bermuda. There he oversaw all custody operations and eventually became an analyst with the asset management division. In 2004 Mel joined JP Morgan Chase Bank operations in Vancouver as Assistant Vice President of Credit Risk. Overseeing a staff of more than 150 employees, he helped develop structure and policies to reduce debt risk. Immediately prior to joining Platinum Properties he worked with the Royal Bank of Canada’s Commercial Real Estate Division as a Real Estate Associate, working on projects ranging from office towers to residential complexes.

Mel graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and holds an MBA in Finance from California State University, San Francisco. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer in the Vancouver Metro League and traveling.
